Description: Supporting the IT functions in data network maintenance and support for all networking systems, including WAN/LAN/wireless infrastructure. Knowledge of maintenance procedures on networking hardware, cabling, operating systems, and infrastructure, as well as strong technical knowledge and experience in network infrastructure and topology. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required. Configures and implements hardware required to operate local area/wide area networks (LANs/WANs) in coordination with the facility operations staff. Serves on integrated teams resolving problems escalated to Tier 2 or 3 support. Plans, designs and manages the lifecycle of network technologies. Provides network guidance to facilities that are new, moving or renovating and coordinates the installation of new network circuits. Responsible for leading and/or assisting in the following network planning tasks: Setting network standards, validating proposed network changes, performing network assessments and providing results in reports, testing new technologies, designing network solutions, documenting network solutions, planning and implementing network solutions including supporting facility network cabling, conducting surveys and modifications using network standards and configuration change management processes. Provides technical assistance and training to staff. Configure equipment and software to connect to Internet application servers. Proficient in Internet related applications such as E-Mail clients, FTP clients and Web Browsers Troubleshoot system and network problems, diagnose, and solving hardware/software faults. Identify, correct and/or advise, on operational issues in client computer systems. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form and create similar procedural documentation. Able to work independently and efficiently to meet multiple deadlines. Establish a good working relationship with staff and other professionals. Test and evaluate new technology. Perform light lifting up to 25lbs. Excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal, organizational, and presentation skills.
Must have valid NJ Driver’s license in good standing. Must satisfy employer paid physical, drug screen and criminal background check. NJ residency required by State Statute. R.S.52:14-7.
Education and/or Experience: Two-year degree in computer science, certificate from college; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 2-5 years of directly related experience in network administration and support.
Certifications: Microsoft Certification (MCP+I, MCP+SB, MCSE, MCSE+I, MCSA, MCSD, or MCDBA), Cisco Certified Network Associate, or equivalent.
